Encouraged by her father's love for photography, Maria was drawn to the art at a young age; first picking up a camera around the age of 12 or 13. When other family members noticed her talent she was further encouraged to develop her skills. These early family portraits still adorn relatives' homes and remain a positive tribute of people's perception of the simplicity and beauty of her work.
Inspiration and creativity are two key themes that Maria muses upon in her photo shoots. Her sensitive and quiet nature allows her to reflect upon the image to obtain the best results on the day. Although she will have pre-conceived thoughts before any given shoot, she doesn't set plans in stone, but prefers to go with the flow, letting the shoot develop and create it's natural course, depending upon the characters and locations involved.
Her calm, reassuring manner can put any person or animal at ease to reveal their personality and so capture the full potential of her subject.
Maria's particular love of animals has previously led to an award winning achievement with The Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. You can view her winning image of an Irish Setter in the Portfolio section under Pawtraits.
Maria shares her life in the picturesque Nottinghamshire countryside with her loving and supportive husband, her beloved dog, and an aged, but feisty feline.
